Wild sandstorm sweeps across city in China’s Xinjiang

The sandstorm also swept across several cities in China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Sunday (February 18), drastically reducing visibility, Chinese state media CCTV reported.

Footage released by CCTV showed a thick layer of yellow cloud blanketing buildings and roads in several cities in the region, including its capital Yinchuan. Dust from the sandstorm reduced visibility to 500 meters (1,640 feet) at some areas, the state broadcaster said.

The nation’s weather bureau issued an Orange alarm for the bad weather, warning the sandstorm could continue for a few days, CCTV said.
