PH logs 662 daily average COVID-19 cases on June 20-26, 53% higher than past week

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 27) — The country on Monday logged a daily average of 662 COVID-19 cases on June 20-26, reflecting a 53% rise from the previous week, the Department of Health’s latest bulletin showed.

The DOH noted 4,634 new infections for the week. Of the fresh cases, 14 are in critical and severe condition.

Meanwhile, the department also confirmed 51 deaths. The deaths occurred on the following dates:

– February 2022 – 2

– January 2022 – 4

– November 2021 – 3

– October 2021 – 1

– September 2021 – 8

– August 2021 – 8

– July 2021 – 3

– June 2021 – 5

– May 2021 – 3

– April 2021 – 8

– March 2021 –5

– February 2021 – 1

For healthcare utilization, 18.1% of non-intensive care unit beds — or 4,034 out of 22,251 beds— were occupied. Meanwhile, 14.9% or 391 ICU beds out of 2,628 were utilized.

The DOH added that a total of 591 patients with severe or critical condition were admitted to the hospital.

The vaccination coverage rate for the target population reached 78.17%, and 77.48% for the target elderly population. Meanwhile, 14.94 million individuals have been boosted against COVID-19.

The independent OCTA Research earlier said that COVID-19 cases are projected to go up further before the “weak surge” could begin to temper by mid-July.
