MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning, August 30, but remains unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said.
As of 8 a.m., PAGASA said the LPA was spotted 80 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao, moving west-northwest at 30 kilometers per hour.
The LPA’s trough is expected to bring rains over Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, Caraga. In the next few days, it may also begin affecting the Bicol Region.
Meanwhile, rains will continue over Ilocos Norte, Batanes and Cagayan due to the trough of Tropical Storm Jacinto, which exited PAR last Thursday. Weather in these areas may gradually improve by midday, though isolated thunderstorms may still occur.
The southwest monsoon or habagat will likewise bring cloudy skies and occasional rains over Palawan, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience isolated thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.
