JTI supports Humanitarian Emergency Informatics
28 JULY 2021
Cognizant of the value of life-saving information in humanitarian emergencies, the Japan Tobacco International (JTI) donated 11 tablet computers to support the mission of Emergency Response Integration Center. ERIC is a non-profit organization composed of ICT professionals who volunteer their expertise in data management and communication to support preparedness training for and response operations in disasters.
The tablets are high-end field-grade rugged computers designed for harsh environments. “These are the perfect tools that will sustain our humanitarian work in extreme environments where there are no power and commercial telephony available,” said Christopher “Bong” P. Grajo, Founder and President of ERIC, who received the tablet computers. The donation was facilitated by JTI’s DRRM and Business Continuity Consultant, LtCmdr Ferdinand “Dino” A. Juan, PN, also a seasoned humanitarian responder himself.
