Two displaced workers of a private company returned the P8,000 cash assistance they received under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) at the Las Pinas City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Bernie Rejano Donato, aircon technician, 26 years old of Barangay Daniel Fajardo and Carlos Simbillo, 38 years old of Barangay CAA personally turned over the P8,000 cash they received to City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) Social Worker Officer III Jingkie Perez.

The two displaced workers told Perez that they were also affected by the crisis due to the spread of coronavirus and placing the entire Metro Manila under enhanced community quarantine. They also said that they are very thankful that they both qualified as beneficiaries for the SAP.

“Nauna ko pong natanggap ang SAP cash aid nitong Mayo 6 at hindi ko po alam na iprinoseso din ng aming kumpanya upang makakuha kami ng ayuda mula sa Social Security System (SSS) kaya nadoble po ang aming natanggap na tulong na amin po ngayong isinasauli sa CSWDO,” Donato said. (I received the SAP cash last May 6 and I am not aware that our company is working on the cash assistance from the Social Security System for us, which means that I will be receiving two cash aids, and that’s the reason I decided to return the P8,000 cash aid.)

Donato also said that he is aware of the hard situation because of the pandemic and there are other city residents who were also in need of help.
