Taytay mayor, health officer among town’s 10 COVID-19 recoveries
Mayor Joric Gacula and municipal health officer Dr. Jeff Roxas were among the 10 patients who have so far recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taytay, Rizal.
According to a 24 Oras report by Emil Sumangil on Monday, 40 confirmed COVID-19 cases with nine deaths have been tallied in the city.
“Good news po, sampu na po ang nakaka-recover. Isa na po diyan ang aming municipal health officer at isa na rin po diyan ang aming mayor,” Taytay disaster management office chief Paula Zapanta said.
Gacula tested positive for COVID-19 on March 29.
“Wala pa po tayong mass testing. Nag-aantay pa po tayo na pagbigyan tayo ng Department of Health na payagan nila na gamitin ang pondo para po makabili ng test kits,” Zapanta said.
Meanwhile, the city government has rolled out a “mobile kulungan” for violators of the Luzon-wide quarantine.
Authorities also continue to distribute food packs and cash subsidies to residents.
“‘Yung iba po, kinukumpleto pa nila ang kanilang form. Mayroon po kami kasing nakitang double entry, mayroon din pong nare-reject dahil hindi sila pumasok sa guidelines na binigay ng Municipal Social Welfare Development Office,” Zapanta said. -Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
