Vice President Leni Robredo’s office did not only save from the donation drive, it has also delivered more personal protective equipment for health workers and frontliners.

This was based on the financial report prepared by Robredo’s office and released on Monday, May 25, 2020.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) reported a total of P53.87-million cash donations that are being used for the purchase of PPE sets for 21,432 frontliners, more than double of its initial target of 9,278 frontliners.

Included in the report on the fund drive was the P7.99 million being spent for food and care packages.

The OVP and its private partner raised almost P62 million for the coronavirus relief work as they ended the donation drive on April 30.

“With an initial costing of P378.37 for PPE daily sets, the P53,872,950.94 raised through the Kaya Natin online donation drive and OVP allocation can originally produce 139,178 PPE daily sets for 9,278 frontliners,” the report said.

“But with lower average purchase price of P144.81 and the entry of in-kind donations, we were able to buy more PPE daily sets and expand assistance to include locally-produced suits and other medical supplies,” it added.

According to Robredo’s office, it rendered the report to inform their partners about the public donations to ensure “transparency and accountability.”

“Our office believes in the prudent use of the aid you have entrusted to us. This serves as a guide to us in continuously assisting our frontliners in the midst of this crisis,” the vice president wrote in a post.

Robredo expressed her gratitude to all those who helped her office in supporting the country’s frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 crisis.
