The Philippines has reached half of its coronavirus daily testing target, Malacañang said Wednesday, more than 100 days into one of the world’s toughest and longest coronavirus lockdown.
Authorities should run 32,000 a day “to give everyone the confidence that it’s okay to go back to the workplace,” said Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.
“We’re now hitting around 16,000 a day… The 32,000 will soon be a reality,” he told ANC.
The government recently procured 10 million kits for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or nasal swab test, and authorized the purchase of rapid test kits, he said.
