Philippines now has over 3,000 COVID-19 quarantine venues
There are now more than 3,000 quarantine facilities nationwide for suspected cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the chief implementer of the government’s COVID-19 response said on Tuesday.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said 3,052 quarantine facilities across the country can accommodate 211,474 patients.
Meanwhile, the first batch of the 900,000 polymerase chain reaction test kits and 2 million rapid test kits are expected to arrive within the week.
Galvez also said that the plan of the Philippine Red Cross to open 20 COVID-19 testing centers nationwide will help the country meet its target to test over 1 million Filipinos.
“This plan will provide the government the critical data and analysis to help address the crisis brought about by COVID-19,” he said at a virtual press briefing.
Galvez added that all air, sea, and land transportation assets of the Armed Forces have been deployed to ferry medical supplies to healthcare facilities across the country.
“Dadagdagan ng Philippine Air Force ang biyahe ng kanilang C-130. Mula isa ay gagawin ng dalawang biyahe kada araw na magpapataas ng hauling capacity ng PPEs at magkaroon ng stockpiling at strategic reserve ng PPEs,” he said.
The Philippines has recorded 6,599 COVID-19 cases with 654 recoveries and 437 deaths as of Tuesday afternoon. -NB, GMA News
