PCG rescues 8 passengers from capsized motorbanca off Cagayan

Eight passengers were rescued from a motorbanca that capsized off Cagayan’s Calayan town, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Tuesday.

In an incident report, Ranilo Gumarad, owner of the motorbanca, said the boat tipped over due to the unbalanced position of the passengers while approaching the shoreline of Barangay Poblacion on Saturday.

Fortunately, the Coast Guard witnessed the maritime incident and they immediately came to the assistance of the passengers.

The PCG also helped tow the distressed motorbanca to shore.

No passengers or crew members were reported injured in the incident. — DVM, GMA News
