Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday visited the Pasig Mega Market to check the implementation of the e-market project initiated by her office and the Pasig City local government.
Photos released by the Office of the VicePresident (OVP) showed she met the teams in charge of the Community Mart program as well as the tricycle drivers who deliver the orders from the market.
“She was also able to observe the operations of the public market as safety measures are currently observed,” Robredo’s office said.
The vice president was accompanied by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto during her visit.
Robredo’s office started on Wednesday, May 27, the online delivery service at the Pasig Mega Market where residents can order meat, fruits, and other food items and have these delivered to their homes.
The Community Mart is a mobile application that aims to help small-scale vendors and tricycle drivers affected by Metro-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The OVP said the e-market project netted P71,000 in sales during the pilot run in Pasig City.
There are 12 areas covered by the online delivery service since they are far from the market. Same-day delivery is available for orders before 12 noon. For orders of meat and seafood, the cutoff time for orders is at 10 a.m.
Customers can only pay cash for their purchases upon delivery.
The program was first launched in the Kamuning Public Market, in partnership with the Quezon City local government. Sales for Community Mart was pegged at over P500,000 on its first week.
