NTC orders rapid restoration of telco services affected by Vicky

To be able to fast-track the repair and restoration of telecommunication services in areas affected by Tropical Depression Vicky, the National Telecommunications Commission directed telecommunications entities to have technical and support personnel and equipment ready for rapid employment.advertisement

In its Friday memorandum, the NTC also reminded telcos to have standby generators with extra fuel, tools, and spare equipment ready for use.

Additionally, “Libreng Tawag” and “Libreng Charging” stations were ordered placed in strategic areas affected by Vicky.

“You are also reminded to coordinate with the LGUs and observe strict health protocols to avoid transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” the commission reminded the companies.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, Tropical Depression Vicky was 185 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Princesa City, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 1 raised over northern and central Palawan. — DVM, GMA News
