‘Maring’ batters Luzon, 9 dead, 11 missing – NDRRMC

NINE people died while 11 are missing as severe tropical storm “Maring” (international name: Kompasu) continues to batter the country, the national disaster council said on Tuesday.
Ricardo Jalad, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), revealed in an update to reporters that three of the fatalities were recorded in La Trinidad, Benguet due to a landslide.
Four of the dead, meanwhile, were from Narra, Palawan. The update sent by Jalad indicated that the fatalities were from a flash flood.

Another fatality was recorded in Itogon, Benguet because of a landslide while another drowned in Claveria, Cagayan.
Authorities have yet to identify these fatalities.
Eleven people were also reported missing by Jalad: three from Baguio City, two from La Trinidad, Benguet and one from Itogon, Benguet due to landslides; four from a flash flood in Palawan; and one from Badoc, Ilocos Norte who was believed to have drowned.
Jalad also reported two injured persons, one coming from Buguias, Benguet and the other from Itogon.
