LGUs allot funds for COVID-19 vaccination

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 5) — Local government units have earmarked varying amounts to fund the COVID-19 vaccination for their constituents.
Some of the cities will administer the vaccines for free, while others will prioritize sectors recommended by the World Health Organization.
Here are the LGUs and their allocated vaccine funds:
Makati City – free for all residents
Mayor Abby Binay announced on Monday the city will set aside ₱1 billion for its residents. She said should the ₱1 billion fall short of its goal to vaccinate everyone, the city still has another billion prepared.
Taguig City – free for all residents
Taguig City announced on Tuesday it will cover the free vaccination of all residents under a ₱1 billion budget.
Quezon City – to prioritize health workers, senior citizens, and other sectors recommended by WHO
The Quezon City government will allot ₱1 billion for vaccine procurement. Its goal is to initially acquire 750,000 doses.
Parañaque City – free for 300,000 residents
The city will cover the free vaccination under its ₱250-million fund. This will prioritize health workers and senior citizens. Mayor Edwin Olivarez said another ₱1 billion will be on “standby” for the city’s own procurement of vaccines, which must first be regulated by authorities.
Caloocan City – free for all residents
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan said the city government has earmarked ₱125 million for all constituents’ free vaccination and they also intend to augment this with an additional ₱1 billion, which will come from loans.
Pasig City – to prioritize health workers and senior citizens
Pasig City has a ₱300 million budget at the very least according to Mayor Vico Sotto, which can still be increased based on the availability of funds.
Valenzuela City – Mayor Rex Gatchalian said the city is allotting an initial ₱150 million for vaccines
Mandaluyong City – ₱200 million for vaccines
Puerto Princesa, Palawan – ₱500 million for vaccine procurement
Navotas City – Mayor Toby Tiangco said the local government has already prepared an initial ₱20 million
Zamboanga City – Mayor Beng Climaco assured her constituents the city is ready to purchase an initial ₱200 million worth of vaccines
City of Manila – ₱250 million from its 2021 budget
Muntinlupa City – initial ₱170 million budget for vaccines
San Juan – ₱50 million
Marikina City – ₱82.7 million
Iloilo City – ₱200 million
Cainta, Rizal – ₱150 million
Antipolo City, Rizal – ₱300 million
Pasay City – ₱250 million
