Metro Manila – Filipino karateka and world no. 1 e-kata athlete James de los Santos just won his fourth gold medal of the year.
De Los Santos made the announcement on Monday on CNN Philippines’ New Day, saying he outlasted Switzerland with 26.64-25.06 and added another gold in his collection after concluding the first leg of the Katana Intercontinental League.
“Switzerland just scored 25.06, and my [previous] score, which was like the highest I’ve ever scored in a virtual tournament was 26.1. Today, I just broke that record. I scored a 26.64” he said.
The 30-year-old karateka had also defeated England and USA as he advanced to the final round, before snagging his fourth gold.
On Saturday, De Los Santos topped the SportData e-Tournament eKarate World Series 2021 edition, defeating Switzerland’s Matias Moreno Domont.
