At least 17 commercial establishments and stalls inside a market in North Caloocan were hit by fire and the estimated cost of damage to infrastructure at P500,000 late Monday evening, James Agustin reported on “Unang Balita.”

As personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection responded to the alarm, there were two explosions that occurred at the site, in Barangay 180 North Caloocan. The BFP raised a second alarm in which at least 12 fire trucks aside from fire volunteers were needed at the site.

The fire was extinguished after an hour and 30 minutes.

The damage brought about by the fire included at least 17 commercial establishments, stalls and two motorcycles.

“Mahina po ang tubig sa hydrant. Kailangan taasan ang alarma, para enough ang supply ng tubig. Kasi marami silang stock na LPG, cooking oil, paninda na cooking oil at saka bigas,” said BFP Caloocan Chief of Operations, Fire Senior Inspector Elyzer Ruben Leal, in an interview.

“Ang suspected na pinagmulan ng sunog, doon sa parlor area. Pero under investigation pa po kung ano’ng cost ng sunog,” he added. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
