Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 15) — The pilot testing of face-to-face classes on selected schools will run from January 11 to 23.

According to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, Education Secretary Leonor Briones will come up with the list of pilot schools by December 28.

Briones will choose among all nominated schools in areas with low COVID-19 risk.

Roque said during a press briefing on Tuesday that this dry run will be voluntary and will require approval from parents and local government units.

“Voluntary ito sa parte ng mga magulang, mag-aaral, at mga lokal na pamahalaan.”

He added that DepEd should coordinate with COVID-19 National Task Force for the monitoring of the conduct of the pilot implementation.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier banned face-to-face classes in the whole country until a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available. The government expects vaccines to be approved for use and arrive in the country by the first quarter on 2021.
