Digital technology is new platform in spreading God’s word — CBCP

Digital technology has helped the Catholic Church in spreading the word of God amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, an official of the  Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

“Ngayon, nata-transform ang digital technology (Today, digital technology is being transformed) for witnessing the Good News of the Kingdom of God,” said CBCP Vice President and Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David during an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas.

“Kailangan ng Simbahan na mas maramdaman sa social media. We are able to communicate it in a creative way dahil bagong plataporma ito [The presence of the Church should be felt more  on social media. We are able to communicate it in a creative way because it is a new platform],” added David.

The prelate said that “digital technology” has also become the public’s “lifeline” in communicating with their relatives as physical distancing protocol is being implemented by the government due to the pandemic.

“Now I think dahil sa panahon ng pandemya, lahat tayo naging lifeline natin ang digital technology [Now I think because of the pandemic, digital technology has become our lifeline],” said David.

“Hindi tayo puwedeng mabuhay nang wala tayong connectivity sa internet [We cannot live without internet connectivity] . We can be physically distant, but not socially distant from each other,” he added.
