DFA reports 50 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now at 8,854

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs on Sunday said 50 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been recorded among Filipinos abroad.

This raises the total number of infected Philippine nationals overseas to 8,854.

The DFA reported 17 new fatalities, while 8 more have recovered from the disease.

Of the total cases, 2,969 are active while 5,274 have recovered. A total of 611 have succumbed to the disease.

These cases are from 64 countries and regions.

The breakdown by region of those undergoing treatment is as follows: 119 in the Asia-Pacific; 484 in Europe; 2,246 in the Middle East and Africa; and 120 in the Americas.

The Philippines has so far tallied 54,222 coronavirus cases, of whom 1,372 have died while 14,037 have recovered.
