COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad now over 5,300

MANILA – The number of Filipinos abroad who tested positive for COVID-19 breached the 5,300-mark as 96 new coronavirus infections have been recorded, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos is now at 5,355 across all geographic regions.

The death toll is now at 357 with 2 new fatalities in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the number of those who recovered went up by 5 to 2,210, the DFA said.

To date, 2,788 Filipinos overseas are undergoing treatment for the disease, broken down as follows by region: 152 in the Asia-Pacific, 453 in Europe, 1,910 in the Middle East and Africa, and 273 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, as of Wednesday, COVID-19 has so far infected 19,748 people, of whom 974 have died while 4,153 have recovered.
