Metro Manila — Thirty private schools have been nominated to participate in the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes at the basic education level, which will start in the middle of November, the Department of Education announced on Tuesday.
Education Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma said the nominees are from Eastern Visayas Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.
DepEd will soon release the decision on which 20 schools out of all the nominees will participate in the pilot implementation that will start on Nov. 22, according to Garma during an online press briefing.
The department also revised its list of 100 public schools that will join the in-person classes that will begin on Nov. 15, according to Garma. Four schools from the original list have been replaced due to varying reasons including requests by local governments to defer their participation in the pilot test, he explained.
Replaced were Tiriktirikan Elementary School and Cabuyoan Elementary School in Bicol, Tabina Central Elementary School in Zamboanga Peninsula, and Zosimo S. Magdadaro National High School in Davao Region, the official said.
The replacements are Tiongson Elementary School and Tandarura Elementary School in Bicol, Kumalarang National High School in the Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bares Elementary School in Davao Region, he added.
Classes at the basic education level for the school year 2021-2022 opened on Sept. 13 under a distance learning setup, which was first used in the previous academic year due to the pandemic.
