20 more PNP personnel contract COVID-19 as cases rise to 346

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 3)— Twenty more police personnel have contracted COVID-19, bringing the total number of infected members of the force to 346, the Philippine National Police reported Wednesday.

Four police officers have died from the infectious disease, while 176 have recovered, PNP said in its latest advisory.

It added there are 675 police personnel who have been listed as probable COVID-19 cases, while 717 were categorized under suspected cases.

Nationwide, the Philippines has logged nearly 19,000 cases of the infectious disease. A total of 4,063 have survived, while 966 have succumbed to COVID-19.

To contain the spread of the virus, authorities are urging people to practice regular handwashing, cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoid close contact with those who exhibit virus symptoms.
