2-month-old baby girl recovers from COVID-19 in Pasay City

A two-month-old baby girl is the latest addition to patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in Pasay City.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said “Baby SP” was discharged on Monday from the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) where the patient was treated.

“This is indeed a day to rejoice. In our battle against COVID-19, our spirits and our determination to win get [a] major boost with every person that we help recover through our city’s functioning healthcare system,” the mayor said.

“This positive development inspires and moves us to persevere in our response measures to this pandemic,” the mayor added.

Based on medical records, Baby SP, born in April of this year, experienced recurring fevers with body temperatures reaching as high as 40 degrees celsius. She was brought to a clinic and was given antibiotic injection for seven days.

Even upon completion of the antibiotic injection, her fever persisted so she was later brought to the PCGH where an oropharyngeal swab was done on her, which later showed that she was positive for COVID-19. She was admitted in the hospital that same day.

The patient was treated in PCGH until June 2 when a repeat swab test was done which yielded negative for the virus.

Data from the Pasay City Health Office (CHO) and posted on the Facebook page of the Public Information Office showed that as of June 6 at 11:35 p.m., 271 COVID-19 patients in the city have recovered.
