According to Jun Jaso, MDRRM officer of Malita, the big waves were observed earlier this afternoon.

As of writing, Jaso described the waves as high as 6 feet causing panic among residents.

Some fishermen rescued their boats earlier to avoid being damaged by the waves.

The number of evacuees is expected to rise considering that more residents in remote coastal areas have started to leave their homes.

The Malita MDRRMO have already activated their response team to monitor coastal barangays.
