SHEPHERDING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES….THE GUARDIAN ANGEL FORUM

“Circles of loving, network of caring.” QUEZON CITY- The church has always been regarded as a spiritual sanctuary and safe abode where people can come to worship God free from worries about violence and threats. It is imperative that while churches focus on spiritual needs, they must not forget the security and safety of God’s people.

The Emergency Response Integration Center (ERIC) has conducted a one day round table forum to understand better the current threat situation in the light of the mission to be instruments of peace.  The said Guardian Angel Forum was held on February 20 at the De Meester Conference Hall, St. Theresa’s College, Quezon City and attended by priests and lay people from the parishes and dioceses of Metro Manila.

Focusing on the culture of security and safety for the churches, the forum featured subject matter experts that shared their experiences and provided insights on security and safety. The experts have emphasized the how-to approach and proactive steps churches can take in defending their flock. Moreover, the sessions on the Black Nazarene Traslacion have brought about a new dimension in church security. The forum intends to inform the churches in NCR of the current threat situation, build a framework plan for the security and safety of the church sector that will inform the basis of the security plans of individual churches and form a collective security plan for all the churches in NCR that is aligned with government structure, system, and protocol.

The said forum has become instrumental in raising awareness and facilitated the interaction between churches and provided in depth discussions on church security and safety.
