Summer to be declared early April after 'short-lived' amihan: PAGASA

ABS-CBN News Posted at Apr 03 2018 02:35 PM MANILA - State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday said it may declare the start of the summer season early April after an expected surge of the northeast monsoon or amihan.

The cool wind from China is expected to be "short-lived" as it will affect the Northern and Central regions only from Saturday to Sunday, PAGASA weather forecaster Ezra Bulquerin said in a phone interview with ABS-CBN News online.

Summer comes with the end of the amihan season. Its dominant weather systems include the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific, and the ridge of high pressure area, PAGASA earlier said.

The weather bureau last year declared the start of summer in the first week of April, Bulquerin noted.

The country will have generally good weather until Wednesday aside from isolated rains or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, PAGASA said in an advisory.
