66 distressed OFWs arrive at NAIA from Jeddah

Published October 21, 2017 12:52pm More than 60 distressed OFWs from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Saturday morning.

Citing the NAIA Media Affairs Division, dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported that  the batch of 66 OFWs arrived at about 7:03 a.m. aboard PAL flight PR663.

Representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration  (OWWA) Repatriation Team welcomed the OFWs and later assisted the workers to customs and immigration formalities.

Homeless OFWs will temporarily stay at the OWWA shelter in Metro Manila, while transportation expenses for those heading home to the provinces will be provided.

Thousands of OFWs have been affected by Saudi Arabia's Saudization program that prefers Saudis for its labor market.

The policy has resulted in thousands of foreign workers ending up jobless and becoming undocumented.
