NIA Road fire victims should be relocated, Herbert Bautista says

After fire razed a residential area along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City (QC) on Tuesday night, QC Mayor Herbert Bautista said it is best to relocate victims to a safer, less accident-prone area.

Pangalawa, diyan na nagbi-breed 'yung dengue, baka may tetanus na diyan, baka maapektuhan 'yung mga bata,” Bautista said in a Balitanghali interview on Wednesday.

The fire along NIA Road, which reached Task Force Delta, left an elderly woman dead and three other persons hurt. More or less 1,000 families also lost their homes from the fire at NIA Road.

Task Force Delta is the third highest fire alarm issued by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). General Alarm is the highest, mandating all available firetrucks to respond to the scene.

Bautista disclosed that the National Housing Authority (NHA), which owns the land where the houses were formerly located, and the Quezon City Housing Department are already planning to relocate the residents along NIA road, a fire-prone area.

Or kung meron mang emergency, meron kaagad lagusan 'yung mga tao,” he added.

In the meantime, the Quezon City local government will make sure that all fire victims will receive assistance.

— Erwin Colcol/VVP, GMA News
