There were no casualties from the fire, though a firefighter was injured after he fell through a roof.

District Fire Marshal Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu explained that the narrow streets, the houses being made of light materials, panicked residents, and the winds coming from a nearby coastal area were some of the reasons why a Task Force Alpha alarm was declared.

"The decision of the city fire marshal to raise the alarm to Task Force Alpha... may mga factor tayong kino-consider and he wanted additional manpower and resources na dumating kasi light materials 'yan," Kwan Tiu added.

Property damage from the fire was estimated at P1.5 million.

Arson investigators were still looking into what caused the fire as of posting time.
