Fire destroys 8 heritage houses in Marinduque By: Mayda Narito Lagran - @inquirerdotnet Inquirer Southern Luzon / 11:53 AM July 02, 2018

BOAC, Marinduque – Fire razed eight houses in the heritage area of this town early Monday morning.

Initial investigations revealed that the blaze started around 5:30 a.m. from one of the old houses at the center of Boac.

Fire authorities havet yet to determine the cause of the fire and Bureau of Fire Protection-Marinduque officer-in-charge Col. Maria Victoria Brual has yet to issue a statement about the incident.

The eight houses were included in the heritage mapping done around five years ago. The old houses, made of quality wood and with antique furniture inside, were destroyed by the inferno that raged for three hours.

Among the buildings destroyed was the historical house of late Capt. Perroco that has a heritage marker of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

Clearing operations and initial damage assessment were still on going.

No one was reported injured in the incident.  /kga
