21-yr-old COVID-19 patient makes full recovery – DOH 11

The 21-year-old female coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient identified as PH130 has now fully recovered after her second test showed negative results of the dreaded virus.

This was confirmed by Department of Health (DOH) Region 11 Director Annabelle Yumang in a virtual press conference at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 11 on Monday afternoon.

Yumang said Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease Control Team Head Dr. Mitizie Lou Osabel told her that, aside from the negative result on the second test, the patient was no longer showing any symptom of the disease.

“Once negative na siya tapos wala na siyay gibati, maayo na siya, stable na siya pwede na siya maka-uli (Once she will be negative and already feel better and stable, she will be discharged),” Ymang said

She said although doctors were still testing PH130 for another confirmation, she will be discharged anytime soon, and will be allowed to go home to her family.

“So, we have one case recovered and she will added to our recovered cases,” Yumang said.

The recovered patient arrived in the Philippines from the United Kingdom with a lay-over at Doha, Qatar before the flight to Manila then to Davao on February 29.

The patient first sought consultation at a local health facility due to coughs, and was immediately isolated on March 9. She was transferred and admitted for isolation and testing to a referral hospital last March 10.
