Dynamite blast kills father and 4-yr-old son in Camarines Norte

Published November 20, 2016 9:20am A man and his four-year-old son were killed in a dynamite explosion inside their house in Vinzons, Camarines Norte on Saturday.

Police identified the victims as Alfonso Asis, who works as a miner, and his son, John Alfie, residents of Barangay Singi.

The victims were inside their room when the dynamite exploded around 1 a.m.

Asis's other child, who was sleeping in another room, was not hurt. His live-in partner, Ronabelle Talla, was not in the house during the incident.

It was not clear how the dynamite exploded, but police suspect that Asis ignited the bomb intentionally.

The Vinzons police said that Asis's live-in partner left their house due to a misunderstanding between the couple prior to the incident.

Police investigators said jealousy and depression could have pushed Asis to ignite the dynamite.

They said Asis keeps in their house dynamite sticks which he used in his job as a miner. —report from Arnel Eclarinal/ALG, GMA News
