3 troops killed in clash with Abu Sayyaf leader Sahiron’s group in Sulu

Published December 11, 2016 10:38am Three troops were killed while 17 more were wounded in a clash with the group of Abu Sayyaf leader Rdaullan Sahiron in Patikul, Sulu Saturday morning.

Maj. Filemon Tan, spokesman of the Armed Forces' Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom), said troops from the Army's 35th Infantry Battalion under Join Task Force Sulu encountered Sarhiron's group around 10 a.m. in Bud Taming, Barangay Kaboontakkas.

Tan said Sahiron was joined by the bandit group's sub-leaders including Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, Yasser Igasan, and Mujer Yadah.

He said Sahiron's group was composed of at least 150 members.

The bandits withdrew after nearly two hours of confrontation, Tan said. He added that the bandits withdrew with a number of casualties.

Troops continue to pursue Sahiron's group in Patikul. —ALG, GMA News
